What is Alternative State Quarantine in Thailand?

Alternative State Quarantine is the procedure of quarantine for travelers getting into Thailand. The quarantine process has to be in state-approved hotels in Thailand, with the travelers having to pay for their expenses at the hotels. Many hotels and hospitals in the country have received the mandate to offer the ASQ packages for most non-Thai nationality travelers getting back from abroad.

Alternative State Quarantine in Thailand; What it Entails

The Ministry of Public Health in Thailand appointed several hotels to provide the ASQ package, in conjunction with the Defense Ministry. The quarantine takes 14 days and costs between 28,000 TBH to 220,000 TBH for the entire stay. A regular quarantine package in one of these hotels includes private transport from the airport, a three-course meal per day, and free internet Wi-Fi services.

Once you get to the hotel, a nurse assigned to the hotel gets to take your temperature and checks your health status twice a day. The process also requires that you take two COVID-19 tests on your stay’s fifth and thirteenth day. Different hotels, however, have their specific requirements apart from the ones set by the Health Ministry. In case your temperature exceeds 37.5 degrees, you are to report to a hospital or medical facility for monitoring and further tests.
